School Board Meeting 10.23

The following issues were discussed or presented during the School Board's October 9 meeting:

·      Routine personnel items and reviewing of the disbursement report.
·      St. Francis High School Student Council requested an extended trip in order to attend a Minnesota Association of Student Councils leadership forum.
·      Brandon Nelson, Director of Human Resources, presented the Assurance of Compliance with Minnesota state and federal laws documents for the board to sign.
·      Cedar Creek Elementary School Principal Tony Alberts presented his school’s Professional Learning Communities and Progress Monitoring program to the board.
·      East Bethel Elementary School Principal Melissa Kivi presented about her school’s five areas of focus for the 2023-24 school year.
·      St. Francis Elementary School Principal Ryan Johnson presented the ABC’s of SFE to the board. These include Achievement, Behavior and Climate.
·      The board also conducted the first reading of updated policies and approved numerous other policies. There are 45 total redlined polices for the board to review and approve.

Superintendent Karsten Anderson provided an administration update where he discussed the following items:

  • SFHS students attended the State Journalism Convention.
  • SFAS Transportation department received a $40,000 rebate from the Minnesota Propane Association for purchasing eight propane fueled buses.
  • The possibility of virtual speech services and the current open positions for speech-language pathologists.
