The Student Council at East Bethel Elementary School was restarted at the beginning of the school year to increase the leadership roles for students and provide more involvement and ownership in what happens at the school.

Following elections in November where students were able to cast a ballot on Election Day for their peers, the Student Council was formed with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. To be on the Student Council, students had to demonstrate kind, safe, respectful, and responsible behaviors, leadership, and work completion.

During the year, the EBES Student Council: helped with collecting, sorting, and assembling Thanksgiving Baskets for families in need; actively participated in school assemblies; planned activities during I Love to Read Month; shared positive messages of support and encouragement with students taking MCA tests; organized some fun ways to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, including a Teacher/Student Swap Dress Up Day; participated in morning announcements; led a light up the world with kindness activity; Read to classes while talking about KSRR (Kind, Safe, Respectful, and Responsible) behavior.
